Ikale World Congress: Delivering ₦49.8 Million Free Life-Saving Medical Care on August 5th – 10th 2024 in Ondo State, Nigeria

In 2024, the Ikale World Congress (IWC) successfully delivered a ₦49,846,345 ($30,000+ equivalent) Free Life-Saving Medical Outreach across communities in Ondo State, Nigeria, providing critical healthcare services to thousands of underserved residents.

Through the dedication of volunteer physicians, surgeons, nurses, pharmacists, and global partners, this humanitarian initiative brought high-quality medical care directly to communities with limited access to healthcare facilities.

Outreach Impact and Achievement

During the outreach, 208 free general surgeries were successfully performed, including hernia repairs, congenital hydrocele surgeries, lipoma excisions, and breast lump removals—restoring health and improving the quality of life for many patients.  The ophthalmology team conducted 174 eye surgeries, including cataract and pterygium procedures, restoring sight for individuals who had suffered years of visual impairment.

In addition, 645 patients received eye consultations and treatment for conditions such as glaucoma, eye infections, allergies, and blurred vision. To further support vision care, 1,967 reading glasses were distributed to individuals experiencing age-related vision difficulties.

Preventive health services were also a major focus. A total of 335 women were screened for cervical and breast cancer, with six cases of cervical cancer detected early and referred to a teaching hospital for specialized treatment. The dental team provided care to 237 patients, including tooth extractions, scaling and polishing, and dental consultations. Meanwhile, the pharmacy unit dispensed over 5,000 medications to treat a wide range of conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, infections, pain, and allergies.

Additionally, 120 patients received physiotherapy services to address musculoskeletal pain and mobility challenges through therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation treatments.

Comsiopasnate Financial Support

Recognizing the financial burden of medical care, the outreach also provided ₦300,000 in financial assistance to support hospital bills for two critically ill patients, ensuring they received the treatment they urgently needed.

Partner With Us to Save More Lives

The success of this outreach is made possible through the support of IWC members for their kind donations, the volunteers, healthcare professionals, and community partners.

However, the demand for healthcare services continues to grow. With increased sponsorship and partnerships, the Ikale World Congress can expand this initiative to reach more communities and provide even greater life-saving medical services.
