Ikale World Congress, Okitipupa Local Government Stage 5-Mile ‘Walk Against Hypertension and Diabetes’ in Okitipupa, Ondo State, Nigeria
The Ikale World Congress Center for Hypertension and Diabetes, in partnership with Okitipupa Local Government Council, led by Hon. Andrew Ogunsakin, on Monday held a public health sensitization programme tagged “Walk Against Hypertension and Diabetes” in Okitipupa town.
The programme commenced with a free health screening for 80 participants. Dr. Fahuwa, Coordinator of Primary Health Care, Okitipupa Local Government, addressed the gathering on the importance of regular exercise and lifestyle changes in preventing and managing hypertension and diabetes. She highlighted the serious health risks associated with both conditions.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Hon. Andrew Ogunsakin, commended the Ikale World Congress for the initiative and affirmed that the programme “has come to stay.” He pledged continued collaboration to promote community health.
Hon. Ogunsakin led participants on a 5-mile health walk through the town of Okitipupa. The delegation made an unscheduled visit to the palace of the Jegun of Idepe-Okitipupa, HRM Oba M.O. Adetoye, who received them with gladness. The monarch thanked the Ikale World Congress for establishing a Center of Hypertension and Diabetes Care (CHDC) in Okitipupa, describing the gesture as magnanimous.
The event climaxed at the Local Government Secretariat, where an address by the President of Ikale World Congress, Mrs. Olayinka Ibitoye, was read, reaffirming IWC’s commitment to preventive healthcare in Ikale land.
The organizers expressed appreciation to the Chairman, Council Members, the IWC CHDC team, and all participants for their support.
